It’s been a fairly laid back week after all the excitement of the Distant World 2 launch. Having arrived at the Omega Mining Operation I decided to kick back and ship in my Python and get involved.
Some 15hrs later and a 22 million credit taxi fee I was able to get stuck in though I was horrified to find by the time I arrived to start mining the DW2 pilots had already reached Tier 8.
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly Frontier can react to a situation and this time was no different when it seemed that 9 Tiers wasn’t enough they just pushed us over the edge to 11.
Now with a target of 3,000,000t of various rocky bounty to collect it felt that it might be unreachable but astonishingly with a day to spare the DW2 expedition met the target. I’ve been playing ED since launch and I think this has to be one of the most successful CG’s ever.
So now with nothing left but to wait for the release of Way Point 3 on Sunday it just leaves a little time to reflect on the journey we have been on and the sights we have seen. If this first few weeks is an indication of the journey to come then the expedition is going to be a fantastic journey.
While I have been out here though it’s worth mentioning that Distant Radio has been a solid friend, the shows have been an eclectic mix of requests, banter and interviews. I was also surprised to hear that they have got permission to play Escape Velocity.
Escape Velocity is a full-cast audio science-fiction serial, written and produced by Christopher Jarvis. Thane and May’s adventure has caught me up and am now somewhere through Season 2, if the void starts getting to you then I can highly recommend it.
Before I sign off I was pleased to receive my DW2 Mug this week and feel I am now ready for the journey out to Beagle Point.
